Río Borosa en el Parque Natural de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas

Tourism and leisure

The surroundings

Nature, culture and gastronomy close at hand: your perfect base to explore the Sierra de Cazorla and the Upper Guadalquivir.

Activities

Must-sees near the house

Hiking on waymarked trails, river swims, kayaking, canyoning, birdwatching and clear night skies for stargazing.

Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park

Spain's largest protected area and a Biosphere Reserve, where the Guadalquivir is born. Forests of centuries-old pines, cliffs, waterfalls and remarkable wildlife: golden eagles, deer, wild goats and griffon vultures.

Úbeda and Baeza, Renaissance gems

Less than an hour away, two World Heritage cities with golden-stone palaces, monumental squares and endless olive groves. An essential trip for lovers of history.

Villanueva del Arzobispo

7.6 km from the house, this white mountain village keeps the soul of the region: steep streets, quiet squares and the unhurried pace of mountain life. Here you'll find shops, bars and services.

Food that tastes of olive oil

Land of extra-virgin olive oil, lomo de orza and toast drizzled with Jaén's liquid gold. Also try the Segura lamb, migas and mountain sweets at the local inns.

Hiking

Trails that tell stories

From family riverside strolls to high-level challenges for the more adventurous. Pick your pace and let the mountains guide you.

Borosa River Trail

Wooden walkways over turquoise waters, tunnels carved into the rock and, at the end, the Valdeazores Lagoon: a perfect mirror reflecting the sky.

Ascent of Gilillo

For lovers of views: blue summits as far as the eye can see and the spectacle of griffon vultures gliding below your feet.

Cerrada de Elías

In the Sierra de Las Villas, the great unknown and perhaps the most authentic: deep gorges where the echo repeats your steps and forests that hide thousand-year-old yews.

200 m from the Tranco tunnel

Charco del Aceite

Hidden among mountains and pine woods, very close to the heart of the Guadalquivir, lies a corner that seems straight out of a fairy tale: a pool of calm, crystal-clear water that invites you for a refreshing dip in summer and, any time of year, to surrender to the peace of the setting.

Stone tables, wooden benches in the shade and a snack bar to recharge, surrounded by rocky pine-covered slopes that seem to fall from above to embrace the river. In its clear waters live common trout, barbel, silver bogas and, with patience, the odd otter.

  • Catch-and-release fishing reserve 300 m from the Puente de los Agustines.
  • Riverside trails among oleanders, willows and ash trees.
  • Access via the A-6202, signposted turn-off at Km 18.
